HSE experts: ICT’s share in Russia’s GDP peaks at 3.1% in 2020
MOSCOW, Feb 26 (PRIME) -- The share of information and communications technologies (ICT) in Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) rose to its maximum of 3.1% in 2020 from 2.9% in 2019, the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) said in a research seen by PRIME on Friday.
“Regardless of the complicated economic situation, the ICT sector showed its sustainability in 2020 thanks to a dramatic rise in demand for digital goods and services among the households and businesses,” the research read.
“In the next few years, we should expect a further rise of the ICT sector as a driver of the planned large-scale digitalization of the economy and the social sphere.”
The sector’s gross added-value increased by 2.8% in permanent prices.
